Steve is happy for an upcoming event this Friday at Monona terrace for the Rotary Youth Ethics Symposium sponsored by the Madison rotary club.

March 8 Interact club is “Feed my Starving Children” meal packs along with student council. 7 pm at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church - Verona Campus 7291 County Rd PD, Verona.

Lucas: Solo ensemble is coming up, he is trying to focus on practice, and deadlines for audition submittals. March is a busy month for vocal performance. His birthday is this Thursday. As one of his activities involves social justice, he is working on getting attributions to the Hu Chunk tribe during high school announcements

 

Delaney: busy with scholarships that are due. She had a Dartmouth interview this weekend. DECA held a fundraising event Saturday at Martinson Hall themed, “Once Upon a Time Night”, an event for kids K-5th grade. 50 kids turned up. Another Once Upon a Time” will be in April for ICDC (International Career Development Competition).

Steve Salerno had to brag that the club interact kids at Neighbors Helping Neighbors Saturday. Delaney was in charge in several of the details of the operation, leading by example for younger students.

 

2 applications for new members, Jorge Sevilla and Tracy Diehm who joined us for a couple meetings as well as a couple of our events.

Paul made a motion to approve their application, Peggy seconded. Motion approved by the club.

 

Paul: with our new members needing help and guidance please get involved with the membership committee at next Wednesday’s meeting.

There will be break out sessions with the various committees.

Treasurer’s report was shared in our club agenda with account balances for the end of the 3rd quarter so committees can see funds in their accounts.

 

Judy / Youth:

RYLA registration is open now. Event 5/17. A time has been set up to meet with Interact 2/20/24 at 7:30 am at the PLC (door #1).

Karla is sick but hopes to make the Ethics Symposium.

Scholarship applications are coming. Anyone interested in helping with selections contact Judy.

World Affairs Seminar will be registering 2 students registering for the end of this month.

 

Grants: some applications have been submitted. Encourages us to go in search of a need in the community. No ask is too big. Let people know about the grants. Deadline is end of March, awarded on the 5th Wednesday in May with funding by July.

 

Social/membership/PR

Speaker next Wednesday from the MHFD and UW Madison featuring a program that helps future health care providers. 2 weeks 2/28 Tom Farley.

 

Judy/ Youth: update on background check. New process now for volunteers is more streamlined this year. Youth Officers still go through the district process with training modules, back ground check, etc..

Work detail sheet has been updated and on the agenda.

This year the second shift is starting at 10:30 so people can get a break or get brunch. Saturday set up is less complicated than previous years. 50/50 items are in the trailer.

Placemat proofs were sent out via Club Runner. 4 to 6 advertising spaces remain.

Wear your Rotary at Work t-shirt or rotary blue clothes. Heidi has a few and can order more if you are interested.
