Steve Salerno shared a brag that Delaney Chronister is one of the top 5 scholars in the class of 2024 at the high school.
Last month’s other student rotarian, Lucas, is busy this week.

Next student of the month, is Ella Fager.
Dana Fager introduced as our next student rotarian, a talented basketball player, a “thoughtful and genuine individual”, according to Steve Salerno. Ella is a 3-sport athlete, member of National Honors Society, volunteers for food pantry, clothes closet, keeps clock and book for youth basketball. Her future plans involve studying biology as an undergraduate possibly at UW LaCrosse. Ella is a member of the high school girls’ golf team which was recognized for first team academic for the entire state.

Karla update
She spent the weekend in Milwaukee, visited the beachfront which was cold, went shopping including the Lindt store for chocolate. Karla is excited for this weekend to have coffee at Leopold’s in Madison with a former exchange student.
 
Happy Bucks
Dave Reed has 4 daughters and is happy that his daughter Kaitlyn’s is expecting Dave’s 5th grandchild. Congrats
Dana is happy Ella’s team won their first regional game in Delavan. Next up is a game in McFarland on Friday.
Heidi is going to see her parents in Tucson Az , and is going to celebrate a friend’s birthday
 
Announcements:
Next week our guest speaker will be Tom Farley who Steve met last year at Midwest PETS event. He spoke to the students at MHASD. Tom’s background includes working at Rosecrance Behavioral Health in communications.

Steve Thanked Judy Steinhauer for her presentation at yesterday’s Interact meeting about RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) a leadership program for Sophomore kids. The club usually sends 2 kids a year. Look at 6520 website for videos on RYLA and information.

Committees:
Membership/Social/PR/Diversity
Fundraising: focus on events such as the Super Brunch and 10k raffle which are fun community events.
Grants and Giving: community grants, international grants are funneled through this committee. We have a separate 501c3 foundation which allows for tax deductible contributions as well as help to leverage matching funds from Rotary International.
New Generations/Youth committee
Several areas, RYLA, scholarships, student rotarians, Interact, youth exchange and step which is a short term summer family to family exchange, world affairs seminar at Carol College. This year’s theme is on democracy and governance involving global perspectives.
High school counselor helps with selection of students attending the world affairs seminar. We just had 13 students represent the high school at the Rotary Ethics symposium in Madison.
 
Paul wants to remind us of the upcoming budget meeting 3/19th in the evening location TBA.
 
Afterwards committees held break out sessions for the final minutes of our meeting.
