January 2024 Student Rotarians

Mount Horeb students Delaney Chronister and Lucas Gonzalez shared their interests and talents during January lunches with the Mount Horeb Rotary Club.

Delaney Chronister has been involved in DECA for all four years of high school, serving in several leadership roles. She has recently completed a business start up proposal for a DECA competition. Her business is based on her 4H projects using epoxy wood work. Her parents, Andrew and Katey Judd, own Judd’s Woodshop, a custom cabinetry business that gave her background for her own business proposal. She will present her business plan at the DECA state conference this year in Lake Geneva.

Delaney’s other interests include owning a herd of dairy Holsteins that she breeds and shows. She has been active in Springdale 4H for nine years and in FFA for three years, serving as vice president. At school, she has been in student council, yearbook and on the Principal’s Advisory Board.  In addition to her parents, her family includes a brother, Finn. She hopes to attend college to study English and chemistry.

Anyone lucky enough to have seen the Addams Family musical at Mount Horeb High School got to see Lucas Gonzalez starring as Gomez Addams. He is involved in a wide range of musical performances, and is currently doing a vocal showcase with Forte Studio.

At school, he’s involved with the drama club as a student director, and is busy preparing 10 different performances for the State Solo and Ensemble competition, ranging from a violin piece to vocal performances. He’s also serving as student council president, drama club director, and is involved in band, choir, jazz band, troubadours, fiddle band, vocal jazz, and madrigal singers. He is currently working on college auditions as he hopes to attend college for musical theater. Lucas is the son of Alcides Leo Gonzalez, who owns a landscaping company, and Maria Cecilia Agosto, a legal assistant. His brother is Nicolas Gonzalez. Superintendent Steve Salerno told the Rotarians that he attended a recent swim meet in Verona where Lucas sang the national anthem, and wowed the audience with his singing.
