Ben Werger and Calvin Huynh are November's student Rotarians.
November 2024 Rotary Students

In November, Mount Horeb Rotary members were lucky to share lunch with student Rotarians Calvin Huynh and Ben Werger.

Both are seniors at Mount Horeb Area High School.

Huynh began the month working on the backstage crew that put on the high school musical “Guys and Dolls.” It marked his 7th year of working in either the orchestra or stage crew. At school, he’s active in Science Olympiad, where he has won medals at the regional and state levels. He’s been active in National Honor Society and Club Interact. In the community he volunteers as a summer school tutor and as a golf caddy.

Huynh collects and restores old clocks as a hobby, a skill that came as welcome news to several Rotarians with non working antique clocks. He is the son of Tai and Huan Yi Huang, and plans to go to college to study electronic engineering.

Werger has been busy in school activities, including the prom planning committee, Spanish Club, Book Club, Ecology Club, Debate Club, Energy Team, and Sources of Strength. He’s the vice president of student government this year, having served as treasurer last year. In the community, he volunteers at church, helping out at food and clothing drives. His pet is a gecko.

Werger is the son of Brian and Tracy Werger, and the brother of Paige. He hopes to attend UW-Madison and has not yet chosen a major.
