Aquino and Kolb are October Student Rotarians
Rachel Aquino and Ava Kolb were student Rotarians for the month of October, and brought the Mount Horeb Rotary Club up to speed on all the Club Interact activities this fall. Aquino is the club’s president and Kolb is vice president.
The student service club dressed up in Halloween costumes and did “reverse trick-or-treating” with residents at Ingleside and Bee Hive the last weekend in October.
Interact is collecting for a donation drive for Friends of the State Street Family, who help homeless people in Madison. Needed items include gift cards, non-perishables, gloves, hats, socks, hand sanitizers, and area store gift cards. Club members are making holiday cards for military service people, tied blankets for American Family Children’s Hospital, and shoe box gift boxes. You might see Interact students at the Kohl Center running a concession stand during UW men’s basketball to raise funds for their projects.
Rachel Aquino is the daughter of Kellie and Mark Aquino and the sister of Laurel. In addition to Club Interact, she is active in National Honor Society, Student Advisory Board, Viking Book Club, band, choir, and volunteers at Neighbors Helping Neighbors, Snapdragon Farm and organized a cleanup at Stewart Lake. She plays guitar, rides horses and hopes to pursue a career in medicine or equine-assisted therapy.
