Mark shared that his dentist works with Shawn Bollig’s daughter. He also mentioned that he was poll watching with the League of Women Voters during yesterday’s voting.

Judy recently completed 20 days with her grandchildren. On August 4, she and the kids enjoyed a special family tour at the cave with Joann Prehn, who had previously served as her family’s guide and had also babysat her children. The date was particularly fitting because August 4 was the anniversary of the day the cave was discovered. Joann incorporated some fun activities, including a rock-sleuthing experience, and the children especially enjoyed exploring and playing with the rocks. Judy described the experience as a wonderful full-circle moment and a great way to spend the day with her grandchildren.

Dana shared that Zandra has returned to Greenland. She has been enjoying ATV riding and spending time with friends and recently started college. After only two days, she had already met many people and was having a lot of fun, although she was understandably tired.

Russ shared that he kayaked to the Apostle Islands with Clementine during the Perseid meteor shower! 

Tracy shared that her family is preparing for a going-away party for her son, who is leaving for Marine Corps boot camp at Camp Pendleton. She expressed how proud she is of him as he begins this next chapter.

10K Debrief

Paul congratulated the team on another year's 10K! The group discussed the check-in process and identified an opportunity to make registration more efficient. Payments made on the day of the event take additional time and can create a backup in the line. Having three people at the front rather than two would help, with one person specifically dedicated to checking in participants who still need to make a payment. The group also discussed handicap parking.

TriCon — You're Invited

Members were reminded of an upcoming opportunity to experience what happens in TriCon and hear from an engaging speaker who can get Rotarians fired up.

Ed Futa will present “What If Rotary Is the World’s Most Effective Peace Organization” at an event hosted by the Oregon Rotary Club on August 20 from 4:30–6:30 p.m. at The Thirsty Goat in Fitchburg. The event is open to Rotary members and provides an opportunity to hear about Rotary’s role in global peace and learn more about the impact of Rotary at the highest levels.
