Madison Rotary is sponsoring a corn hole tournament at Wisconsin Brewing in Verona on September 28.

Thank you card from the school district for the grant to buy physical education equipment.

Happy & Sad Bucks:
Steve Helwig: Sad buck for Viv’s horse being ill; happy buck for Viv earning her learner’s permit.
Russ: Django took part in the AAU Jr Olympics, in Greensboro, NC and made the podium for triple jump.
Mark: Obert Alvin Coffeehouse in Blue Mounds is open, went west with his morning coffee gang and reports that it is great.
Tammy: Thanks for your good wishes. Sad buck for having vertebrae broken. Happy buck for a slow recovery, she’s happy to be out and about
Judy: Spent last week in Door Co. with family, had a nice visit with Carolina, who was back visiting host families.

Business meeting:
Steve: Judy’s crystal globe for the “Service Above Self” award was passed around.

Heidi: Gary Tree is a great addition, he owns a construction business in McFarland and was a longtime Madison Downtown Rotary. I sold him a house and we maintained a connection. He has a great passion for international work and giving in general. Motion to accept Gary into the Rotary club passed unanimously.

Peggy: New Teacher Luncheon, Aug. 14 noon to 1:30. There will be a speaker and food, come at 11 to help set up. Please sign the list if you’re coming for the luncheon or bringing a guest so we can have an accurate food order.

Keith: I think we have 10 or less tickets to sell, doing well but not all the way there yet. Need one final 10th ball sponsor. Jorge says Badger Hearing will sponsor one.

Steve: Steve and Steve will be at the firehouse at 9 a.m. to supervise football team table setup. Come if you can in the morning, but if you just come for the evening, arrive by 5 p.m. and wear your Rotary blue. Mazo Catering will again do the food. Heidi can order more Rotary T-shirts for those who need them. $20 to $25 a piece. Liz can also do iron-on transfers.

Keith: He has completed training as youth exchange officer and Dana has accepted the youth exchange counselor position. They’ve filled out the form for an exchange student in fall 2025.

Shawn: Treasurer’s report is on the monitor. Grant update: We’ll need another club to join us if we want to go for the maximum District grant to help the MARC center. New applications can be made on last year’s form.

Heidi: The Thanksgiving dinner is going to happen. Dixie and Heidi will plan after the teacher’s luncheon is in the books.

Steve: Ellen Bernard from Lake City Bank will join us from time to time, including at the new teacher’s luncheon. She is currently a Rotary member in Madison.

Susan: Working on speakers for the fall, send her or Steve your ideas.
