Happy Bucks
Paul is happy his daughters are here with their friends and is happy to be spending time with his girls.
Bob is happy for the direction the club is taking, and the opportunity to grow. Svetlana has 3 happy bucks. One for Wednesday’s citizen exam in Milwaukee about history, geography, and some political questions. She passed!
It is her birthday, and she passed out candy from the Ukraine.
Announcements
Every Rotarian Every Year (EREY) club donation to the Rotary annual fund. EREY donation is $100 per club member which makes the club eligible for matching grants. You can donate at the Rotary international website with options for automated withdrawals so you can schedule payments your way.
We are close to meeting our requirements, needing $135.00 to make the required amount needed for our club to qualify for district and international grants. Your Rotary International membership number is on the mailing label of your Rotary magazine.

Rotary DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) Information, classes, professional development is on the Rotary International website. This week’s agenda has helpful links to explore topics that may interest you such as Membership, how to recruit new people, and subjects relating to any of our committees.
Giving and Grants: Ukraine school project originates from a Hungarian Rotary grant. The goal is to raise $250k, the club is around $30k left to go. The project requirements are to provide assistance for 700 students, and costs associated with operations.
The government of Hungary is providing the building, other groups are supplying needed aid. Proceeds from the Rotary are used to fill in the space for the supplies for the school. At this stage, the club organizing the grant from Hungary is asking for people to commit to giving. End of April grant is going to Rotary International.
Heidi discussed the grants and giving committee’s actionable items. The committee will decide later this year how to disperse funding, and how much to donate. Some discussion followed about individual contributions, donating through Rotary International, using the Mount Horeb Foundation, matching individual contributions.
Paul offered to put together a communication piece summarizing on us on how to proceed. There are funds available in an account set aside for unanticipated community needs.
Shawn brought up world grants as a way to maximize using donations as a district or International grant to get matching funds from Rotary International.
Next month will be a business meeting with briefing from the board meeting April 2nd. Reminder from Peggy to submit applications for new members prior to the business meeting so the board can bring them up for consideration.
