calendar of content if club members are interested in taking a look at how the committee sets up a schedule of topics for social media and outreach.
10k we have 90 tickets left to sell by next week. Keith has printouts of people who purchased ticket in the past who need to be contacted to see if they want to purchase for this year's event. 🎫
Paul reminds us that following up with a phone call or personal touch helps ticket holders act. He asks us to confirm our rotary club member tickets. With the many moving parts of running the event, getting ticket sales taken care of allows time and resources to address all the many other aspects of the event.
Our Foundation & Proposed changes to bylaws: more ways to optimize the foundation's original purpose.
Paul and Peggy presented about the foundation. The Mount Horeb Rotary Club Foundation was founded in 2004 when Peggy was president. Each year the club was contributions set aside for the foundation.
The foundation is a living entity and all of our club members are members.
The IRS 5o1 (c)3 is classified as educational along with other appropriate uses to help pay for our student scholarships, with the hope that it would generate funds for the scholarships. The foundation has been used for international projects, such as support for treatment of Ebola in Africa, a water project in Ecuador and Guatemala, emergency generators in Ukraine as examples of the good work.
The foundation works as a pass through for various projects so that donations qualify as tax exempt. Changes need to be made to the bylaws, especially the paring back the section regarding officers, elected officials and board positions and duties.
Currently Peggy is already assigned a position from the original 2004 bylaws and asks if any of us want to be board members to let her know. In order to make amendments, the board would need a majority to vote for them. The hope is to have 3 people on the board.
Paul and Peggy are updating the bylaws and believe that the document could be condensed more with fewer board members due to club size. Other points discussed were:
- annual report is required.
- exit clauses from the board (besides death)
- club members are allowed to attend our meetings
- amendments require a board majority
- vote in 3 more positions for board members
- have term limits language added.
