Happy Bucks: Tammy is happy for all the kids from Darlington having lunch at Culver's after visiting the Capital, and for her son’s engagement. Mark is enjoying retiring, listening to the Supreme Court birth right citizenship hearing live.
Melissa is happy for Easter coming, getting to cook for the family. Brent is happy for when went to urgent care here in Mount Horeb and had an excellent experience.
Announcements and Board Meeting Recap:
Peggy and Paul are working on the by-laws getting them up to date from the original inception, looking for attorney to oversee before registering the changes,
It was suggested during our board meeting to meet fundraising goals of $50k for the foundation to help with sustainability and scholarship opportunities.
Grants:
Gary has not heard back from Rotary International for the Chile grant. He is still doing active fund raising with outside clubs. Will be sending presentation to Door County Club. Peggy and Gary are meeting with other clubs to help raise the funds in order to qualify for matching funds.
He reports that are 4 applicants for community grants, with $9k of awards to give out.
Tentative date of 4/29 will be the awards ceremony.
Outreach has several public-facing events going on for April including the club's sponsorship in partnership with the MH Lion’s Club for a community food waste
compost drop off site in the village. The committee will be assisting the village along with the Rotary Green Team Community Corps for the village's Bird City Award Designation ceremony April 14th.
Rotarians at Work day is slated for third week of April, exact date TBA. The Library Fence Project is dependent on weather conditions. If you are interested in being “on call” let Peggy know.
Membership services. Shawn reported that the committee met, explored templates for prospecting materials using ClubRunner.
Brent reminded that there needs to be access in cases like this to the “football” in the shared committee folders. Action item to have the admins grant permission, which Paul was able to do during the meeting.
New Generations: world affairs student selection may be finalized soon.
RYLA: we won’t have students represented due to scheduling conflict with prom at the high school.
Next 2 weeks we will have visits with our student Rotarians, continuing to May. Scheduling conflict with guest speaker for the student Rotarians final meeting with the club.
Fundraising: July 30th will be the 10k. This will be first time the event will be held on a Thursday.
Tracy is looking for a place to store membership materials like pens, pins, and plaques. Brent offered the trailer and to find a place in the future.
Gary requested we have another board member at large to include the committee chairs and increase membership participation in the board.
Proposed Budget Breakdown
Keith’s Budget briefing included background from the 2021 task force report which included an of allotment into percentages.
Historically, the goal was to spend funds generated to go back out to the community, until COVID created circumstances involving planning ahead and the need to set aside contingency funds. He explained in more detail what are unanticipated operating expenses.
2025-26 estimated budget is $30k.
Committees have the authority to determine spending as they see fit, rather than having the board making decisions on how to appropriate funds in line items.
The board approved the recommendation for the proposed budget. Action item is to have committees prepare a budget by 4/15, with submittal May 1st. The board will review the finalized version if revisions come up, and it will be presented to the club May 5th. Once a simple majority is reached by club members, the budget will be approved.
In closing, we have 30 days to make comments on the budget, deadline voting for the final budget will be June 4th.
