We made it through back-to-back events, as well as receiving recognition for
club excellence!

It’s that time of year, summer is winding down, and I was able to sit down with our president to review our next steps as we plot our course moving forward.
First week of September we have Master Gardener Katie Hartman as our guest speaker on 9/10. She will bring the club up to speed on the “Yard in Every Yard” initiative, a village-wide sow as you go project.
In September plan on returning to our work organizing our committees.
Our meeting on 9/24 will focus on developing committee outlines and protocol, and drafting bylaws for how the committees want to function. New members may want to make it a point to attend this meeting.
This will be a collaborative effort to provide club members the opportunity to bring their ideas to their committee. Some committees may already have a clear vision, and others may need to work outside our regular meetings ahead of time to get clarity.
To get familiar with the committee guidelines go to this link:
https://clubrunner.blob.core.windows.net/00000005955/en-ca/files/homepage/rotary-task-force-summary/Rotary-Task-Force-Summary.pdf
A snapshot from the guidelines reads:
- Committees should reflect our core values and activities as a local club:
- Should lead club activities and support the president’s goals for the year.
- Will prepare their suggested budget for the coming year based on their anticipated activities and submit it to the Board as an essential component of the budgeting process.“
The goal at the end of that meeting is to have a committee chair decided upon, and an idea of the commission’s core function.
Our fall meeting schedule will continue with the progress made during our Visioning session in April.
As part of our mission to improve member experience your input is asked to get a reading: gauging interest on learning opportunities about ClubRunner, our club website, communication, relevant documents, calendars, events, and more. There is both a browse and mobile version enabling club information at your fingertips.
It is an excellent resource for communication, as we are barely scratching the surface of its functionality. This event would need to take place at a venue better suited for looking at a screen rather than our noon meeting location. Please reach out if you are interested in attending, and preferred time. A second session can be offered for committee heads as a way to optimize communication, create events on our club website, and post stories.
Along with back to school time, members can refresh their knowledge by visiting our club handbook. This everything you wanted to know about Mount Horeb Rotary Club but were afraid to ask document is on our Club Runner website homepage as well as this link.
Congratulations to our club!
