Announcements:
President Steve Salerno noted opportunities to meet and have fun with our Interact club:
Sunday, September 29, 11 am to noon, meet at the Springdale Kwik Trip for a roadside cleanup with the Interact and Ecology Clubs. Steve is buying ice cream afterwards.
Sunday, October 27, 11am to 12:30, Ingleside and Bee Hive - Reverse Trick or Treating at the Senior Living Facilities (we give candies, soaps, hygiene products to the residents). Bring your costumes and come with us as we attempt to brighten the lives of others.
Liz Grabe: Anyone needing a volunteer job can take over the Norsk News.
Peggy Zalucha: If anyone needs to be repaid for 10K Raffle expenses, send the receipts. Bob and Faye Johnson are working with Jim and Dixie Burns on the Thanksgiving dinner.
Steve Helwig: Still working on a total from the 10 K, another $5,000 came in for the 10K from Raffle Prizes.
Dave Reed: Frolic gave the Rotary club $3,500. Frolic pledged $50,000 to playground equipment at Grundahl Park.
Shawn Bollig: We have a new contact at the MARC Center. Working to put together a $15,000 district grant to supply their kitchen. Via Heidi Kopras, the Knights of Columbus will contribute $3,500 to the effort. We still need a second Rotary Club to take part.
Judy Steinhauer: We have a Mount Horeb student applying to be an outbound student for next year and we’re anticipating having an inbound student next year. Tammy is working on the student Rotarian applications for this year.
Discussion:
Peggy noted that the member services committee needs more time to meet, only had nine minutes last week. We would also like to have programs/speakers more than twice a month.
Discussion followed on whether we can add more speakers, or whether that will further impinge on time for committee meetings. Various thoughts about whether more meetings are good, or if we need to leave more time. No decision reached.
