Todd reported on the Special Board Meeting held at 7am this morning:
Minutes of Special Board Meeting
7am Zoom
Background:  Our club reorganization needs to be completed and in place before we start our next budget cycle in May of 2021 for the FY 21-22.  A key reason is that we need each of the five committee chairpersons to submit a proposed FY 21-22 budget for their respective committees.  Thus the new committees will need to be assembled and ready to go by that time.  Also our new committees will need input and guidance from both our new 3 year strategic plan and the incoming president.

Board task force initiatives:  Here is the list of initiatives we discussed this morning along with who is the lead for each. The action is to create a proposal for the board to consider and advance.  The lead can ask for help from anyone but they own completing the initiative.  We will review the status of each of these at our next regular board meeting on October 7th.

1. Create a proposal for our 3 year strategic plan.  Lead:  Tyler Kennicker

2. Create an implementation plan that includes a schedule with tasks and key milestone dates for implementing our reorganization.  Lead:  Susan Wallitsch

3. Edit and Redline our Bylaws, Constitution and Handbook to conform to the 5 committee Rotary Standard model.  Lead:  Judy Steinhauer

4. Propose a post-COVID meeting location and format.  Use survey results as a guide.  Need to confirm the preferred location is willing and able to host our club.  Lead:  Heidi Kopras

5. FY 20-21 Fundraiser plan.  Lead Steve Hellwig

Peter  Walton is requesting a leave of absence.
Nic Owen, Village Administrator, is our speaker. His topic was current Economic Development Efforts. With strategic planning, it was determined that the EDC, a volunteer organization, was having trouble raising money and that it was better to bring development under the village administration with more stability in funding.  Rowan Childs was hired to lead the committee as Economic Development Director.
Nic reported on current Projects:
  • Gorman Corporation will be building a 51 unit affordable  and market rate apartment complex on Blue Mounds Road next to the bike trail.
  • There is another apartment complex of 21 units approved at North Cape Commons.
  • Caseys will start building soon and Kwik Trip will begin developing near Troll Mountain
  • Icky Stickey will open in new location on Springdale.
  • The Village is working on a grant or loan program to help local restaurants.
  • Tiff 3 is looking better with all the new building happening.
  • Street reconstruction is happening at Washington and Front street and the old fire station will become a parking lot.
